Tool storage cupboard

Projects

This is a DIY storage solution for keeping tools tidy and organized in your garage or shop. The folding shelves add double the storage capacity by folding out and allowing tools to be hung on the inside of the doors as well as on the wall itself. This doubles the storage capacity without adding too much depth. The result is a convenient storage cabinet right above the workbench where it is most needed. Tools are tidy and dust-free.

The folding shelf frame is made with steel so it's very sturdy. The shelves are clad with recycled timber and framed with an industrial-style burnished black steel finish. Custom handles were made in my blacksmithing gas forge and styled by beating the hot steel with a ball-peen blacksmith hammer. The folding doors use lift-off hinges so the doors can easily be lifted out if necessary. The rack is mounted to the brick garage wall using 8mm masonry DynaBolts. I used a magnetic tool holding strips so tool mounting can be adjusted easily.
