Wooden toy tractor

Projects

In this woodworking project, I rebuild a wooden toy tractor that was originally made by my grandfather. This project uses basic shapes cut from a 90x35mm length of structural pine. I use various power tools including a drill press, planer, thicknesser, and table saw. While I have used power tools to save time, this project could also be completed with some hand tools and a little more patience.

I demonstrate some thinking to help make the build and finishing process as efficient as possible.

The wooden toy is finished in walnut stain and a polyurethane gloss clear. The wheels and axle are basic items found in the local hardware store. The tractor is far stronger than any plastic toy you can buy. If looked after it will last at least another generation.
