Steel anvil stand

Projects

I make a stand for a striking anvil with offcuts of steel and some quick-set concrete. This anvil stand is made by welding square hollow section and angle iron.

It is designed to be as heavy as possible for maximum mass and transfer of force into the piece of iron being forged. The anvil stand is filled with concrete to minimise vibrations and reduce volume when striking the piece with a blacksmithing hammer. It has wheels on one side so the whole thing can be tilted and moved around the workshop. You don't need to buy an anvil to start blacksmithing or forging iron. I found a large piece of heavy steel I am using as a temporary anvil. This will get me going while I look around for a real anvil.
